Women's polo-neck pullover

Close to the neck, fitted or relaxed, the polo-neck pullover is one of the defining pieces of the winter wardrobe. At Soeur, it comes in two registers: fine knit, worn under a shirt or as an underlayer, and chunky knit, warmer, to be worn alone. The polo neck is one of those pieces that works everywhere. During the week, its fine version in wool polo-neck collar merino, black or anthracite, slips under a blazer or an open shirt; it is the knit that disappears beneath layers, in offices where the heating is lukewarm in the morning. At the weekend, it is the chunky knit that takes over, worn with raw denim jeans, low boots and a coat thrown over the shoulders. For winter evenings, cashmere, rarer and more enveloping, pairs with a structured jacket and a more pronounced fragrance, in shades that move beyond black: off-white, navy, bordeaux.

Fine knit, chunky knit, oversize

The polo neck comes in several textures. Fine knit, in merino wool or cashmere, follows the line of the neck without constricting it; this is the style that slips under an open white shirt or beneath a blazer, for cooler days. Chunky knit, in combed wool or alpaca, adds volume to the upper body and stands on its own, worn with raw jeans or wool trousers. The cuts oversize, with an extra-wide collar and dropped armholes, reinterpret the piece and call for layering: under a wool pullover sleeveless, or under a wool coat more structured.
